CONSUMER REPORTING.

What is happening in reality? We know that the consumer voice is a threat to the existing patriarchal systems and even when the national pharmacovigilance units are opening up for consumer reporters, the consumers may be uniformed about their rights and value of the consumer reports may be underestimated. Our belief is, after many years work with consumer reporting, that the consumer reporting system needs to be independent and separated from the national system. A comparison between consumer reporting and professional reporting is being carried through by KILEN right now. The first is sertraline. Examples from the results: We can see a big difference in the reporting of suicidal behaviour, suicides and the duration of abstinence - where the consumers are reporting very difficult, long lasting, life threatening conditions and the professionals are reporting short and effective interruptions of the medications. The full report will be translated into English and put on the KILEN website.
